Suzhou Guanghua Group was founded in October 1999. For many years, Guanghua Group has been regarding “Those, who preserve, attain success” as its entrepreneurial spirit, “Helping to achieve the great rejuvenation of China” as its mission, and “To tribute to the society, education goes first” as its investment philosophy. Under the leadership of the Group president, Mr. Xu hHua, Suzhou Guanghua Education Group was thus established in January 2015, officially determining the investment in education as its priority of development.
Soochow Foreign Language School (SCFLS) is the first school established by Suzhou Guanghua Education Group, and also the first branch school of Suzhou Foreign Language School in Suzhou City. Planned in 2017, SCFLS officially opened in September 2018. SCFLS is located at No.188 Yucheng Road, the central area of Yuanhe High-tech Zone. It is close to the Vitality Island business district, and less than 10 minutes’ drive from Metro Line 4 and Suzhou North Railway Station. The school covers a land area of 100,000 square metres and a construction area of 137,000 square metres. It is a K-12 international school with the Early Education Centre, the Kindergarten, the Primary division, Junior Middle School and International Senior High School division. The domestic senior high school is under preparation, and will start to enroll its first cohort of Year 10 students in 2021 Autumn.
With “Education for life” as its mission, “Inclusive and Holistic” as its school motto, and “Quality School” as its development strategy, Soochow Foreign Language School strives to become a unique school. The continuum programmes offered in our school will be optimized and seamless articulated and connected, offering best-fit and tailor-made education for each student. Provincial Test and International Carousel Courses will be the main curriculums of the Junior Middle School. DP, A Level, IFD and the Sino-Canadian High School Dual Diploma Programmes will be introduced in the International Senior High School.
Bearing the vision “A cradle of the talents, A bridge to the world’s top universities” in mind, SCFLS advocates to work with the excellent, with the like-minded people, and with those who respect differentiation. Hopefully, all students from our school could step on the bridge leading to an ideal life.
Soochow Foreign Language School adopts small-sized class teaching and restricted off-campus activity management. It provides the school bus services for those primary school students in need, and satisfies some students’ requirements of living on campus. In principle, junior middle and senior high school students must live on campus. The school mainly enrolls Chinese students, including students from Macao, Hong Kong and Taiwan, and at the same time enrolls some foreign students. Within about three years, SCFLS has gained wide recognition from the parents with its social reputation constantly improving. The number of students has thus reached 2,000.
As was said by Mr. Gu Mingyuan, the best education is sure to be the best-fit one. No two children are identical. Success in education cannot be assessed with one ruler. More excellent talents can be recognized and cultivated with comprehensive criteria of assessment. Not only does SCFLS admit differentiation, but also respects differentiation. Differentiation and effectiveness are the core of teaching modes carried out in Soochow Foreign Language School. While teaching in small sizes, we focus particularly on individuals during the class, and on holistic education after class. It is highly advocated that we shall leave no one behind.
The name of the school was inscribed by Mr. Zhu Yongxin, and the school motto was inscribed by Mr. Gu Mingyuan, both of whom are eminent educators in China.
It takes the whole village to raise a child. Likewise, it takes the whole society to establish an everlasting and well-reputed school of our own. Education is a grand cause worthy of devotion and dedication. Let’s take the shared and sacred responsibility to plan for students’ development pathway, and educate our future generations.
